Criminal Justice major
For more information about course offerings and requirements please see the KWC Academic Bulletin.
What can I do with a degree in criminal justice?
Our majors generally chose one of three directions after graduation: becoming a practitioner (police office, court designated worker, probation and parole officer, etc.), attending law school, or attending graduate school in criminal justice. The path you choose is your decision and one you will generally not make until your junior year. Our program provides ample opportunity to explore your career options.

About the Program
Criminal justice majors learn about our political and social systems and how they impact crime and its causes, the legal and correction systems, the philosophy of punishment and the ethical codes of behavior.
We teach a critical thinking approach to :
- the development and enforcement of our laws
- the function of police in a free society
- the administration of justice by our court system
- the incarceration of more then 2.5 million persons in our correctional systems
Signature Learning Experiences
Student practicums are uniquely designed to allow our students to work in agencies near their hometowns during the summer months. They often work with state police, local police departments, jails, prisons and pre-trail release programs.
