Programs of Study
The Center for Business Studies offers a corporate communications major leading to a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree.

What can I do with a corporate communications degree?
Examples of career offerings include foreign service, United Nations, US Department of State, the Red Cross, nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies.
Signature Learning Experiences
- Internships - For top performers, internships are available. Students eligible may be placed in situations that will provide them with first-hand experience in their career choice as well as earning college credit. Internship opportunities include: The City of Owensboro, The Messenger-Inquirer, Independence Bank, Teacher's Credit Union, Ragu, BB&T, and Waxworks
- Finance Club - The Finance Club has $10,000 (real money!) to invest in the stock markets. Students, through company research techniques, learn to make real portfolio decisions.
- New York - Since 1992, a group of business students has been part of a large group that spends Spring Break in New York City. The 10-day, 9-night travel-study course examines the foundations of American business from Wall Street to Broadway.
- Projects - Junior and senior students complete projects that are relevant to future work in classes
About the Program
Students majoring in corporate communications are preparing for positions in agencies, corporations, nonprofit organizations, cultural and educational institutions and government. The major develops, in student, the fundamental skills and knowledge in strategic communications through critical thinking, problem solving and writing.
