Signature Learning Experiences
  • Kentucky Wesleyan Singers
The Kentucky Wesleyan Singers showcase a select vocal ensemble in a wide variety of beautiful choral repertoire. The Singers maintain an active schedule with more than forty performances each year at various locations such as churches, schools, business and charitable organizations, as well as performances with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. Recent tours have taken the choir throughout the United States, Canada, the Bahamas and the United Kingdom.

  • Wind Ensemble / Pep Band
The Wind Ensemble provides performance opportunities to talented students. This group provides the foundation for the Wesleyan Pep Band for home football games, as well as for our nationally recognized basketball team. The Wind Ensemble plays three concerts each year, and performs a wide variety of band and ensemble literature.

  • Internships
Kentucky Wesleyan College students have opportunities for internships with professional music corporations including the RiverPark Center, Owensboro/Daviess County Public Schools, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Sunlite Music, Wax Works, and International Bluegrass Museum. Students may also get hands-on experience in radio station management and programming. Several recent graduates have procured professional employment opportunities as a direct result of their internships. Industry professionals serve as guest lecturers and add their insight and expertise to the formal curriculum.

About the Department

Students pursuing degrees in music at KWC gain a broad understanding of the scope of the field and its contribution to society, as well as a foundation for employment in music studios, churches, schools, arts organizations, and performing opportunities. An appreciation and coordinated understanding of music contributes to the aesthetic dimension of leadership, creative thinking, communication, service and greater aesthetic awareness within an increasingly diverse cultural environment.

Students taking music courses have opportunities for performance, discussion, ensembles and private study. Through these experiences, students exercise critical, logical and ethical thinking, learn effective communication skills and develop greater appreciation of the beauty inherent in music.
