Owensboro, Ky. (September 13, 2013) – Kentucky Wesleyan College will host the annual Constitution Day lecture on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 7 p.m. in Hager Hall at the Ralph Center. Dr. Bill Conroy, professor of history and political science, will debate attorney Todd P’Pool on the issue: the United States Supreme Court should mandate that gay and lesbian marriage is a protected right under the United States Constitution. Conroy will take the pro position and P’Pool will take the con position. P’Pool graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law and was elected to the office of Hopkins County Attorney in 2006. Former Governor Ernie Fletcher appointed him to serve on the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice and Governor Steve Beshear re-appointed him in 2008. The audience will be invited to ask questions at the end of the debate. The event is free and open to the public.
