Owensboro, KY (4/18/13) -- This week KWC Professor Suzanne Rose announced a new addition to Smith Lounge in the Winchester Center -- KWC's first micro-library.
Micro-libraries are a grassroots reading movement; patrons of micro-libraries take a book and donate a book to continue the collection. As a result, micro-libraries reflect the readings tastes of their patrons.
Rose’s Writing Workshop students researched micro-libraries and reading studies, and then designed and constructed a micro-library for the KWC community. The purpose of this micro-library is to encourage leisure reading among KWC students. Leisure reading reduces stress while developing skills that contribute to success in classes.
