More than 125 KWC students gathered in the gym last Friday night to write fundraising letters for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tn. Called Up ‘til Dawn, the event also featured music, games and food for the letter-writers.
Students wrote letters to family members, friends, co-workers and anyone else they could think of, asking for donations to St. Jude’s. When the funds come in, the Up ‘til Dawn Executive Board will send them to St. Jude to fund research into and treatment for children’s diseases. At St. Jude, no child is ever denied treatment because of an inability to pay.
KWC students, faculty and staff wrote more than 5,000 letters Friday night – up from the 2,700 letters they wrote last year. The Letter Writing Grand Prize Winner, with 327 letters written, was Cory Coble!
Up ‘til Dawn has raised an average of $10-12,000 the last two years; the Executive Board is hoping for a similar total this year.
Applications for membership on the 2012 Up ‘til Dawn Executive Board are due April 18, 2011. To apply, download an application, check your email or see Andrew Rash, Director of Student Life, for a copy.
