Now is your chance to follow their footsteps. You'll live amongst the Tudors and stay within the grounds of Hampton Court Palace to join Henry VIII. Then you'll follow Elizabeth I to London with the Globe Theatre, Tower of London, and a day trip to Windsor Castle.
Come join us for a Winter Term 2012 journey and course with the Tudors! "The Tudors" is a 3000 level interdisciplinary (IDS) course which will earn three credits and fulfill a Humanities Gen. Ed. requirement.
The class will be taught by Tamara Coy, visiting assistant professor of English. She's the perfect instructor -- she lived in England for twenty years!
Limited places are on a first-come, first-served basis.
IDS – The Tudors
This interdisciplinary course will cover the literature, history, and art during the Tudor period 1485-1603. Coursework will include a Shakespearean play along with the works of Thomas More, daily historical reading, maintenance of a journal, and submission of a final paper. Participants will combine class time the first week on Kentucky Wesleyan’s campus followed by travel to England for ten nights, including six nights in London and four nights within the grounds of Hampton Court Palace at the Georgian House for their continued studies.
Itinerary:
January
9: Meet at KWC early morning to depart for Louisville. Flight from Louisville, KY, time TBA.
10: Arrive London Heathrow early morning. Transfer to Central London Hotel. Orientation.
11: Visit Globe Theatre, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower of London.
12: Visit Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey. Evening: Free (optional theatre).
13: Travel by train to Windsor. Visit the Castle, tour Windsor, cross bridge to Eton. Evening: Free.
14: Saturday -- Evening: Attend ‘Wicked” at Apollo Victoria Theatre or “We Will Rock You”
15: Sunday -- Free day -- Optional -- Visit British Museum, National Gallery, Natural History Museum
16: Transfer to The Georgian House, Hampton Court Palace
17-19: Hampton Court Palace
20: Depart on Underground for Heathrow departure. Arrive at SDF Louisville for late night arrival back at KWC.
21: Complete Journals, due January 22.
