The PLUS Center accommodates students requiring special services. Students with physical or learning disabilities are provided the following services when requested:
• Note Taking Assistance: The PLUS Center arranges for students to have class notes taken and duplicated in the PLUS Center. Usually note takers are students enrolled in the same class.
• Special Testing: Students who wish to take tests in a private, quiet setting can arrange for their tests to be given in the PLUS Center. Instructors send tests to the Center, and PLUS personnel administer and supervise these tests. If students require additional time, this can be arranged. The PLUS Center also provides assistance to students who need tests read orally to them. In addition, if students need someone to transcribe tests for them, the PLUS personnel provide this service.
All PLUS Center peer tutors are first recommended by faculty for a particular subject, then interviewed, hired and trained by the PLUS Center Director.
A KWC student who needs a tutor may contact the PLUS Center OR go the the PLUS Center link on PantherNet to find tutors' names, subjects, and contact information.
A non-Wesleyan student needing a tutor contacts the PLUS Center to get names and contact information on available tutors.
At the request of either three or more students or a faculty member, the PLUS Center will offer study sessions for a particular class. These sessions, conducted by peer tutors, are free of charge to KWC students.
The PLUS Center offers services to all students to help them improve in their academic work. If students need help on a paper for any subject, the Director, a member of the English faculty, or a tutor recommended by an English faculty member will work with them individually to increase writing effectiveness. Also, the PLUS Center has trained reading specialists to help students succeed in their classes.
The PLUS Center serves as an ACT residual testing center.
The PLUS Center provides workshops on test-taking, study skills, writing, and for students preparing to take the GRE and LSAT.
ALL SERVICES ARE FREE TO KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE STUDENTS.
