53 Student Athletes Earn Academic All GLVC Honors


29 first-time honorees

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 17, 2013) – A record 53 Kentucky Wesleyan College student-athletes were named to the Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic Team for the 2012-13 year.

        The Panthers were led by the college’s four-time honorees Lauren Goffinet (basketball) a senior from Tell City, Ind./Tell City HS; and Sarah Pedigo (volleyball) a senior from Bedford/Trimble County HS.

        Three-time selections include are Katie Armstrong (soccer) a junior from Paducah/Heath HS;  Josh Bratcher (cross country) a junior from Owensboro/Daviess County HS; Brittany Clark (cross country) a junior from Philpot/Daviess County HS; Tiffany Clark (cross country) a junior from Philpot/Daviess County HS; Haris Dzaferbegovic (soccer) a junior from LaGrange Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township HS; Patrick Hibbs (golf) a junior from Madisonville/Madisonville North Hopkins HS; Raley Owens (cross country) a junior from Owensboro/Apollo HS; Taylor Owens (cross country) a junior from Owensboro/Apollo HS; Kourtney Rhoads (basketball) a junior from Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area HS; Jordan Rickert (volleyball) a junior from Louisville/Holy Cross HS; Kyli Smithson (softball) a sophomore from Tell City, Ind./Tell City HS; Heath Williams (golf) a junior from Madisonville/Hopkins County Central HS; and Bailey Wilson (golf) a junior from Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek HS.

        Two-time recipients are Ryan Brewer (soccer) a sophomore from Owensboro/Owensboro HS; Chelsea Brothers (volleyball) a sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind./Southport HS; Jordan Gambill (basketball) a freshman from Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington HS; Danielle Hadler (tennis) a sophomore from Medina, Ohio/Highland HS; Michael Hellmueller (baseball) a sophomore from Louisville/St. Xavier HS; Hannah Hudnall (volleyball) a sophomore from Russellville/Logan County HS; Bridget Johnson (volleyball) a sophomore from Owensboro/Apollo HS; Julia Klump (soccer) a sophomore from Owensboro/Owensboro Catholic HS; Paige Kramer (soccer) a sophomore from Owensboro/Daviess County HS; and Brianna Outland (volleyball) a sophomore from Hopkinsville, KY/Christian County HS.

Sweatt (football) a sophomore from Bowling Green/Greenwood HS; Audrey Taylor (soccer) a freshman from Centertown/Ohio County HS; David Thompson (soccer) a freshman from Rockport, Ind./South Spencer HS; Mackenzie Weedman (soccer and softball) a freshman from Owensboro/Apollo HS; and Matt Wilson (football) a senior from Columbus, Ind./Columbus East HS.

        To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed two semesters at their institution and maintained a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or have attained a 3.40 GPA over the two most recent semesters. Student-athletes that have attained a 3.40 GPA and not completed two semesters are also honored.
