Biology & Zoology

Biology & Zoology . . . Welcome to the world around you!

Why Study Biology?

Programs of Study

KWC biology and zoology students develop fluency, understanding and skill in the basic principles and practices of life science.

They experience directed reading, discussion, multimedia and computer applications, as well as laboratory and field work with a variety of living systems ranging from bacteria to humans and from single cells to coral reefs.

Degree Options

KWC offers a B.S. and B.A. degree in Biology and Zoology. KWC also offers a variety of pre-professional programs in health professions including:

Health Studies
Medical Technology
Pre-Physical Therapy (PT)
Pre-Physician Assistant (PA)
Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Student Research

We encourage our majors to carry-out research projects... ideally providing the basis for their senior seminar. Students sometimes have the opportunity to spend a (funded) summer at a larger research institution (UK, U of L, etc.), sometimes they work on projects at Owensboro facilities, or work with KWC faculty in completing a project.
